Claire Roberts

Hi, my name is Claire and I’m the Minister of Queensberry Baptist Church in Nottingham. I’m fairly new to Ministry - after working as a Maths teacher for 10 years, I started training in 2017 before joining the church here in 2021. I’ve learnt a lot, and still feel I’ve got so much to learn - but I suspect I’ll always feel like that!

The biggest lesson I’ve learnt so far is my complete dependency on God for all things. I believe the gospel is such good news, and I want to see my church, my community, and my city completely transformed by it. But I can’t make that happen in my own strength, and I’m constantly reminded of the need to abide in Jesus if I want to see the fruit of the gospel grow. I love learning, I’m a bit of a theology nerd! I also love helping other people learn and thinking about how we can do this better in church. As a church, we’re currently experimenting with new ways to learn more about being disciples and making disciples. We’re also getting stuck into serving and blessing our local community through projects like our weekly community meal. In my spare time, you’ll find me exploring new places, drinking tea, or swimming in lakes around Nottingham - at all times of the year!

It’s a privilege to be joining the Fresh Streams team. I’ve found such encouragement through the Fresh Streams conferences, prayer gatherings, and theology schools I’ve attended. Part of the vision of Fresh Streams is to ‘give courage’ to church leaders, and that has been my experience as I’ve heard great teaching, encountered the presence of God in worship, been blessed by new friendships and most of all been reignited with a passion for the transforming power of the gospel.
