The numbers weren’t great – but the hunger for God and the passion for prayer certainly was!
The hardy and courageous few who ventured out into the cold and snow to come to Witney were rewarded with a welcoming word from Eddie Lyle of Open Doors that touched into the reality of life with God when filtered by the context of persecution: God IS bigger than our circumstances.
In York Matthew Porter of St Michael le Belfry echoed insights from David Watson on prayer from the book of Acts; and it was great to hear about the TRYPRAYING initiative (www.trypraying.org).
So we did try praying! in Witney and in York we cried out to God, calling on him to move in power. We praised God for the prospect of baptisms in our churches on Easter Sunday – and voiced our longing for more, as God’s Spirit moved in power across the land.
